What is AlphaInventions.com? My New Favorite Thing!

A few days ago I happened to be checking out my stats (because, I’ll admit it, I’m a little self-conscious about my blog) when it occurred to me that I had 62 new hits one day from a single source. That site happened to be AlphaInventions.com.

When I first clicked on the link to find out what the site was about, I was thrown off by the rawness of the page format, the (seemingly) random flashing of blogs, and comments from people which I had no idea how they got there. Being at work, and not having much time to digest what it was I was looking at, I immediately thought it was some site I might get a virus or spyware from and hit the “X,” while vowing never to visit the site again.

That lasted a whole 24 hours, until I was checking my stats the next day, and saw that AlphaInventions.com had provided my blog with another 20 hits just that day. At that point I started wondering:

1. Who or what is AlphaInventions.com?
2. Why do they keep coming to my blog?
3. Will I get a virus on my work computer if I go back to check?

So, being the curious kitty that I am, I went back to AlphaInventions.com and played detective (that’s a fancy way of saying I clicked on stuff). After a few minutes of just watching the site it dawned on me that:

1. It’s not one specific person coming to my blog, but whoever happens to be on    AlphaInventions.com when my blog is in the loop who will, thus, be contributing to the hits on my page.
2. My computer still doesn’t have a virus.
3. AlphaInventions.com is basically a billboard for bloggers

This realization made me a little relieved and very excited. From a reader’s standpoint this is like putting blogs on tv, instead of changing the channel for a different show, simply wait a few seconds and AlphaInventions.com will show you a different blog. If you’ve been looking for an easier and quicker way to browse blogs, this is it. And, from a bloggers standpoint, this is a Godsend. There’s not much advertising on the internet that’s free, and as I said before, this site really is like a billboard for blogs. I dare say nothing has done more to bring bloggers and readers together, quicker.

Now you might be wondering:

1. How do you get your blog on AlphaInventions.com?
2. How long will it stay up and is it free?
3. What if I don’t want my blog on AlphaInventions.com?

Well, honestly, I am still pretty clueless as to exactly how the creator coded the site and all of that pretty much goes over my head. With that being said, if you want your blog to show up on AlphaInventions.com all you have to do is update it. The site spotlights blogs from many different hosting sites (not just WordPress.com). So chances are, if you have a blog, you’ve probably already been featured by now. If you find that you go onto AlphaInventions.com and your blog isn’t coming up in the current blogreel, all you have to do is type your blog’s URL into the “Your Blog” field, then hit “Notify Readers About My Blog,” and you will be added (at the expense of another blog you just kicked off. . . don’t worry, they’ll be back).

A great thing about all of this is, it’s free (plenty thanks to the guy who created it). Bloggers don’t have to pay to be featured, and readers don’t have to pay for access to the loop. I always say if it’s free it’s for me. And, while I’m not 100% sure on how long blogs stay in the loop, I wouldn’t be surprised if the answer was “until someone else updates their blog.”

If, for some amazingly unexplanable reason, you do not want your blog featured on AlphaInventions.com you can email the creator, and he will create a script to block your blog from being read by people who are on AlphaInventions.com. -Why on Earth you would ever want to do that is beyond me.-

So, what have we learned? AlphaInventions.com is not a scam, spam, hoax, or spyware. It’s just a pretty cool invention by a pretty creative mind to make our lives easier like the wheel, sliced bread, and spoons. Go to the AlpaInventions WordPress site to find out more.

  6. Wow! I want to thank you too because it’s like you were reading my mind. I went thru exactly what you described and all the questions, etc. I just stumbled upon this tonight and I am so fascinated that I haven’t even had dinner yet, I’m glued to my couch and I even put on pause my TIVO. Again, thanks for taking the time to write it all out. Question, do I have to add my blog everyday? or, once I do it once it continues to show up? I liked your analogy to a billboard. Take care, http://glorimar.wordpress.com

    • Hey, glad I could help. You don’t have to do anything, but post more on your blog. Everytime you write a new post, it will be added to the loop on AI’s site.

  7. AI is a great luxury that has helped me get tons of hits too. I hope this dude is making money off of this creation. Great post by the way. Thank you

    • Yeah, I do too. . . I think he has a feature set up so that people can pay to constantly be on the loop though. So, he just might be getting paid after all.

I was wondering what it was. Yes, a changing ‘billboard’ is an appropriate description. I was seeking information on ‘what is alphainventions’ when i came across your site by the way. I suppose it is a blog surfer that puts less strain on one’s forefinger. Interesting invention.

By the way, I like the design of your site.
