I don’t know if I made it clear previously, but I am a huge James Bond fan. For me, Bond is like the best superhero with no powers (Batman being a close 2nd). So, of course, I had to take the time out to see the latest installment, Quantum of Solace, opening weekend (I have a thing for being one of the first people to do things.lol). I definitely was not disappointed.
First of all, Daniel Craig is a great Bond. Several people disagree with me on this, because he’s not as polished as his predecessors, but I can appreciate the rugedness that he brings to the film. Let’s keep in mind, this is supposed be Bond when he’s still new to Mi6, he should be reasonably rough around the edges. Daniel Craig blends the roughness and the “Bond” style suaveness seamlessly. And, I’ll be honest, I don’t think Daniel Craig is attractive at all, but something about the way he plays James Bond is very sexy. He’s not pretty boy Pierce Brosnan, but he does have his own brand of sex appeal. -It probably has something to do with watching him kick ass, take names, and go through bad guys like kleenex.-
Second of all, I like the Bond-girl. She’s not the most kick-ass of the Bond-girls, but she’s definitely tough, persistant, and proves to be deadly. Of course, she happens to be great eye candy for the guys (and the girls who swing that way). I thought she could have been written into the story a little bit better, but I’m not too upset that she wasn’t because. . . well, the story isn’t about her, it’s about Bond. James Bond. And, it’s not like she’s going to show up in the next movie anyway. So, moving on. . . .
I do have to admit that I’m going to have to watch the movie again just to get the full grasp of what exactly is going on. I didn’t sit down and watch Casino Royale before catching this film, so my memory of what went down isn’t as sharp as it would have been, had I taken the time out to do so. But, that’s what DVD box sets are for (and HBO on Demand, for that matter). I do recommend anyone else, who’s not as gung ho about Bond as I am, watch the previous flick before going to see this one (just to get their bearings). Then, enjoy the wild ride this film offers from start to finish.
I’ll now end this before I start posting spoilers. Check out the trailor here.

Definitely gonna hit this movie along with Twilight this weekend. I dunno I like rugged main and Daniel Craig is doing for me…in a caveman kinda way.
Twilight, I can pass on, but this was definitely worth my $12 (damn those midtown prices).
